In the final months of 2016, RAINN has seen an outpouring of support. Tens of thousands of people have pledged monthly donations, contributed one-time gifts, signed up to volunteer, signed our petition to ask the new president and Congress to end sexual violence, and subscribed to RAINN’s monthly newsletter.

With more people than ever supporting RAINN’s programs and services, we figured it was time to do a little re-introduction.

RAINN is the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization. We created and operate the National Sexual Assault Hotline—available online (online.rainn.org) and over the phone (800.656.HOPE) in both English and Spanish (rainn.org/es). RAINN’s staff also works to prevent sexual violence, help survivors, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.

From helping writers and producers in Hollywood to working with Congress in DC, our staff of 200 and more than 4,000 volunteers are working hard to educate the public and improve the way our nation prevents, and responds to, sexual violence.

Survivors are reaching out in record numbers

Thanks to the support from generous donors and hard work from RAINN’s staff and the 1,000 local organizations we partner with, we have been able to help more survivors of sexual violence than ever before. This year, RAINN’s victim service programs will help more than 202,000 survivors—that’s up 31 percent from last year.

Here’s a closer look at what we’ve been up to.

• Your support enabled RAINN to help more than 202,000 survivors this year. Since 1994, we’ve been able to help more than 2.5 million survivors.
• With your help, RAINN expanded Spanish-language services with the launch of La Sala de Ayuda, a secure online helproom for survivors.
• Thousands signed RAINN’s petition, calling on the next president and Congress to make ending sexual violence a priority.
• Millions across the country viewed RAINN’s Survivor Series PSA campaign on network television, in movie theaters and online.
• RAINN worked with leading television networks (MTV, NBC, TNT, and others), documentary filmmakers, and journalists to elevate sexual violence storylines and reach millions of families across the country.
• We helped pass legislation that enhances survivors’ rights, strengthens the criminal justice system, and improves the use of DNA evidence to achieve justice.
